Personalized with a Porcupine

Tonight I had the pleasure of grabbing dinner and seeing David Sedaris at the Performing Arts Center with a friend of mine. Laugh-out-loud, thunder-clapping, tears-streaming-down-my-face-good fun we had tonight hearing him read several essays from his new book coming out this fall and excerpts from his journal.

We also had the great fortune of being seated near the exit and were strategically well-positioned to get a spot in signing line after the show that was just 10 or so people from the front. He doesn't allow pictures, but did request of us an animal to draw in our books. After my friend selected a giraffe, only to have him oblige and comment that "everyone in Vegas wanted a giraffe", I chose a porcupine. That he gave me, and even made my critter one that had bitten its tongue.

So as you can see, not only is he quite the penmanship master (check out my name!), he can draw (who knew he went to art school?), is funny as all hell and can write funny, too!
